Gaming Dad Blog 7: Retro Gaming Mat and Retro-bit Generations

Christmas has come and gone. My wife knows that I love video games and arcade games so she bought me an 8 bit and 16 bit arcade console. It’s amazing how little they are compared to my old NES and Atari. I have only played them with my kids. Somehow, these low graphic games are more interesting to them than NHL 19 or Sea of Thieves.

The Retro Gaming Mat by Orb Gaming, which I’m guessing was a popular low cost present this year, was pretty entertaining for my kids. They tried stepping on the D pad and playing puzzle games. My 2 year old has no self control so just mashes the B button wildly and destroying any progress we might have made.

My score: 4 stars

My daughter’s score: 4 gems

The retro-bit Generations console came with two controllers. My daughter loved some of the games, but they’re pretty glitchy. For some reason, she loved Super Ghosts and Ghouls, which was way harder than I remember (I may or may not have gotten past the first level)

My score: 3.5 stars

My daughter’s score: 100 hearts
